Pepperoni Pizza Casserole Recipe

Dinner just got extra delicious! This pizza casserole is a true family favorite, and it’s constantly requested in my house. I love it as it’s easy to make and the plates are always cleared!

Super hearty, this pasta bake tastes just like your favorite pepperoni pizza. Made with beef, Italian sausage, fresh veggies and of course cheese and pizza sauce, this recipe is a keeper!

How to make Pepperoni Pizza Casserole at Home

  1. Cook the noodles and drain.
  2. Brown the ground beef and sausage in a skillet, season and set to one side.
  3. Cook the veggies in the same pan to soften them.
  4. Mix the meat and vegetables together.
  5. Mix in the pasta and pizza sauce and place in a baking dish.
  6. Top with shredded cheese and top with pepperoni slices.
  7. Bake until bubbling and the cheese has melted.

How long does it keep?

This is a great make ahead dish, and the leftovers will keep well for around 4 days in the fridge, so you can easily enjoy it over a couple of nights. Let the casserole cool completely before covering and chilling.

How do you reheat it?

Leftovers can be reheated in a preheated oven at 360F for 15 to 20 minutes til heated through.

Can you make it gluten-free?

Yes! If you or someone in your family has an intolerance to gluten, simply use your favorite gluten-free pasta. The rest of the recipe remains the same.

What do you serve it with?

  • For a lighter dish, you can swap the ground beef for ground chicken or turkey.
  • I made this recipe with rotini pasta, but most short pastas like penne, rotini or fusilli will work well.

Pepperoni Pizza Casserole Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups rotini pasta
  • ½ pound ground beef
  • ½ pound Italian sausage hot or mild
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt plus more to taste
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper plus more to taste
  • ½ medium onion chopped
  • 1/4 cup shredded carrots
  • ½ cup green bell pepper chopped
  • 1 4 ounce can sliced mushrooms, optional
  • 2 14 ounce jars pizza sauce
  • 1 cup Colby jack cheese shredded
  • ½ cup pre-sliced pepperoni

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Cook the pasta noodles for one less minute than the time listed on the package. Drain.

  • Brown the ground beef and sausage in a large frying pan, until the meat no longer has any pink, about 5-7 minutes.

  • Stir in salt, pepper and garlic powder and cook for 1 additional minute. Remove meat from the pan and set aside.

  • Save the drippings in the pan, draining excessive fat.
  • In the same pan, sauté the onions, carrots, and green peppers for a few minutes in the meat drippings, until softened, about 5 minutes.

  • In the frying pan, mix the meat, cooked vegetables, and mushrooms together.

  • Add the cooked pasta and pizza sauce and toss to combine. Pour everything into a greased 9×13 inch pan.
