Blueberry Cobbler Recipe
Cobblers are hands down my favorite dessert to eat during the summertime. Peach Cobbler is my favorite, but this Blueberry Cobbler is a close second. Easy cobbler recipes are something I make all summer long. Not only do I love baking with in-season fruit, easy, no-fuss recipes are wonderful for the long, hot, lazy days of summer. Save the pie baking and cake baking for fall. Summer is for keeping it simple.

This is blueberry season here in northern Florida, so I decided to try this recipe for our family tonight! It was a big hit with everyone and I have added this recipe to my favorites! I probably could have done with little less sugar in the blueberries because they were so sweet anyway and were freshly picked a few days ago. Well deserving of 5 stars! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

How To Make Old-Fashioned Southern Blueberry Cobbler
Fresh blueberries get tossed with sugar, a little cinnamon, and some orange juice.

They are covered in a cobbler dough made with butter, sugar, eggs, flour, vanilla extract, and baking powder. Plus a little ground nutmeg for flavor.

35 minutes in the oven and the blueberries cook down wonderfully and turn a vibrant dark purple color.
The exterior of the cobbler topping gets a little crispy and crunchy, but it is nice and soft underneath, especially the parts that soak up the blueberry juices.
The ratio of blueberries to topping is just right.

How To Pick and Store Blueberries
Look for smooth, taut blueberries. There shouldn’t be any shriveled up berries or any mold. Shake the container. Fresh blueberries should move freely and not clump together. Refrigerate immediately either in the original container or another breathable container.
Can Frozen Blueberries Be Used?
Yes! You can use either fresh or frozen blueberries for this recipe. If using frozen, thaw them first and drain off any liquid so that the cobbler doesn’t get watery.

This recipe only makes an 8×8-inch pan and believe me it will disappear in a hurry!
How To Serve
A bowl of homemade blueberry cobbler served warm with vanilla ice cream is the perfect way to finish off a light summer meal. Also tastes great with some fresh whipped cream.
Variations
- Lemon Blueberry Cobbler– add 1 teaspoon of lemon zest to the blueberry mixture and leave out the cinnamon.
- Blackberry Blueberry Cobbler– use equal parts blueberries and blackberries.
- Almond Blueberry Cobbler– Mix in 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract to the blueberry mixture and sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
How To Store
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4 days. Reheat in the microwave.
